Evolution of Zirconia Ceramics - From Traditional to Gradient Technology
Time: 11:15 AM, February 21, 2025
Speaker: Daniel Edelhoff
Synopsis:
Since the introduction of zirconia ceramic into dentistry in the 1990s, indications and compositions have changed significantly. The increasing number of long-term clinical studies support the confidence into the material in different fields of fixed prosthodontics, from different types of implant abutments to multi-unit FDPs. The lecture will give an overview over different types of zirconia ceramic, its indications and latest results of clinical studies.
Learning Objectives:
Attendees will be able to:
1. classify various types of zirconia ceramic according to their composition.
2. identify mechanical and optical properties of different zirconia types as selection criteria for correct indication.
3. learn how to translate these facts to its clinical usage based on results of clinical studies.
