Membership Criteria
Deadline for application is January 1 of every year.
Participation in the ethical practice of dentistry as defined by the ADA Code of Ethics and Responsibility, demonstrated by:
- Commitment to and support of national bodies of the dental profession such as the American Dental Association, its international equivalents, or other national dental organizations
- Service and/or leadership in national and constituent bodies of the dental profession
- Membership in professional and/or scientific organizations dedicated to the improvement of the profession
- Exemplary practice of dentistry
Exhibition of a major interest in the field of fixed prosthodontics, evidenced by the character of practice, and demonstrated by:
- A practice pattern of three years duration (mandatory; may include three years of advanced training) with major emphasis in fixed prosthodontics and be considered an outstanding practitioner
- Participation in continuing dental education related to fixed prosthodontics through taking and/or giving courses or active participation in dental study clubs
- Participation in research or developments advancing the practice of fixed prosthodontics
- Teaching, either full- or part-time, in fixed prosthodontic curricula
- Contribution to the dental literature, which may include study club and university syllabi
- Completion of specialty training in prosthodontics (not required)
- Attaining Diplomate status from the American Board of Prosthodontics or its appropriate counterpart (not required)
Interest in this Academy, demonstrated by:
- Attendance at one or more Academy meetings prior to application for membership (mandatory)
- Willingness to serve the Academy through participation in the scientific program, service in the administrative functions of the Academy, or participation in Academy outreach programs (mandatory)
- A commitment to continued participation in professional activities within and outside the Academy.
The candidate must be available for interview by the Credentials Committee at its annual meeting held in conjunction with the scientific session of the Academy
